Background
Born in Istanbul, Turkey in 1991, Dr. İsmail Sarbay went to one of the most prestigious private schools in the country for primary-secondary and high school education. He then graduated from the Kocaeli State University in 2016 and in the same year he started his residency program in Istanbul University Cerrahpasa Medical Faculty. During his residency he designed a special patient walker to help post operative thoracic surgery patients and any patients in intensive care units to mobilize independently while having oxygen and intravenous supply. He applied for a local patent. He participated in the ESTS data entry process and helped the department get a performance score. He was also involved in the IASLC lung cancer staging project as principal investigator and helped the home institution get funded and form a research lab. He finished his residency in January 2022. He is currently working in a public hospital, performing minimally invasive surgery and continuing researches on lung cancer, education, minimally invasive surgery and medical innovations.
