Background

Robert Meguid, MD MPH FACS is the Stan & Mary Ellen Cope Family Endowed Chair and Professor of Surgery in the Section of General Thoracic Surgery, Division of Cardiothoracic, Department of Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine in Aurora, Colorado. Dr. Meguid joined the faculty in 2012 after completing his general surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital, a research fellowship in thoracic oncology and Master of Public Health from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, and cardiothoracic surgery residency at the University of Washington. He practices in all aspects of general thoracic surgery. His clinical expertise in thoracic surgery is in management of chest wall disease.

Other Interests

He is the Associate Vice Chair of Clinical Research in the Department of Surgery. He is a founding member and past president of the Thoracic Surgery Outcomes Research Network, a member of the AATS, SUS, STS, WTSA, ESTS, AAS, Surgical Outcomes Club and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

Research

His research interests are in identification and development of processes and systems of care leading to improved surgical patient outcomes. These efforts are currently focused on improved patient understanding and provider assessment of preoperative risk and use of advanced statistical methodology to identify adverse postoperative outcomes.
