It is our pleasure to announce that the second ESTS-WHO course on tuberculosis and surgical lung diseases which will be run at the WHO collaborative training center in Cepina, Italy, from 20 - 23 November 2017
Massive migration to Western Europe is expected to raise new challenges for health professionals in general, and for thoracic surgeons in particular. Prevalence of diseases such as tuberculosis, hydatidosis, bronchiectasis, has gradually decreased over the past 4 decades in Western Europe, and thoracic surgeons trained over the past 3 decades have had minimal exposure to such pathology.
The ESTS Learning Affairs Committee, supported by ESTS Council, assumed that the responsibilities of our Society also include preparation of European Thoracic Surgeons to major upcoming challenges arising from novel public health problems in relation with international events. With this concern, we have approached WHO in order to deliver a common educational product on lung diseases in migrants. WHO agreed with enthusiasm and assigned well renowned scientists in the field to participate as lecturers in this project.
Registration is open now and will be handled on a first come – first served basis, because local logistics oblige us to limit the number of participants to 32. We offer this new course, including lectures, housing and meals, at a reduced registration fee of 400 euro.
Registration is now closed.
